Ms. Pugh was born at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, TX. 

She spent her childhood in Alaska, Louisiana, and California.  She completed high school back in Wichita Falls and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science & History at Midwestern State University.  At the same time, she began working on a  Master of Arts degree in Political Science. 

In 1994 she joined Teach for America and was stationed in the Mississippi Delta where she taught 7th & 8th grade history.  During this time she completed her teacher certification requirements through courses completed at the University of Mississippi and Mississippi Valley State University. 

In 1997 she moved to Dallas and began teaching at W.T. White High School.  Ms. Pugh is certified in composite social studies (history, geography, government, economics, psychology, and sociology), speech, educational technology, ESL, art, and Principal.  In 2004, she earned a Master of Education Degree in Educational Administration from the University of North Texas. 

While in Texas, Ms. Pugh became one of the first three Texas teachers certified by the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards in Social Studies and was named the 2005 North Texas Outstanding History Teacher by Score A Goal in the Classroom.  She was the 2005 Dallas' High School Teacher of the Year.

Ms. Pugh has presented at social studies conferences at the local, state, and national level. She serves as a Reader for the AP World History Exam and has reviewed grant proposals made to the Department of Education. During the Summer of 2006 she lived and studied in Vienna, Austria as part of the National Endowment for the Humanities summer programs for teachers.

Ms. Pugh has published three review books for the Texas social studies TEXES exams and a book for Barron's Educational Series on the Texas TAKS test in social studies.

Besides teaching, Ms. Pugh's major passion is travel. She has traveled with friends, family, and students to over 17 countries, including Greece, Italy, Spain, Russia, Poland, Finland, Australia, New Zealand, and Croatia. 

In 2006, Ms Pugh moved to Maryland where she taught AP European and World History and served as the Social Studies Department Chairperson at Arundel High School in Gambrills. Currently she works for the Anne Arundel County Board of Education where she is the Secondary Social Studies Specialist.
